China Foundry Congress 2020 was held in Hefei, Anhui Province on 8-11 November . On November 9, a grand opening ceremony was held at Buckingham Hotel to celebrate the industry event.
At the opening ceremony, Lou Yanchun, chairman of FICMES and deputy general manager of China Academy of Mechanical Sciences Group Co., Ltd., delivered an opening speech. He expressed his sincere welcome to the guests, experts and scholars and all the delegates attending the event. “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the competent units at all levels, the brother societies and associations who care and support the development of FICMES.”
He said that at present, China's foundry industry is under a lot of pressure, and environmental protection, relocation and transformation, trade war and new crown epidemic situation will have adverse effects on the development of China's casting industry. However, we can also see that innovative products and technologies in China's foundry field emerge endlessly, and the demand for new technologies and foundry talents in the foundry industry is increasing. The transformation of China's foundry industry from big to strong depends on the continuous innovation efforts of our vast number of casting industry colleagues. The innovation achievements should be truly transformed into practical productivity. The status and influence in the World Foundry Organization should be fully utilized. The contact and cooperation with the WFO and the industry organizations of relevant countries should be strengthened, and the foreign exchange activities should be strengthened and expanded to further improve international status and influence.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, representatives of relevant international industry organizations were unable to attend the meeting in person. They specially recorded a video message to express congratulations and support for this year's Foundry Congress. Andrew Turner, Secretary General of the World Foundry Organization, and Mr. Hyunik CHO, President of the Korea Foundry Society, delivered video speeches.
The 2020 China Foundry Congress has attracted the attention of many foundry industry experts, scholars and operators, and provided valuable exchange and learning opportunities for the foundry community.
