Advantages of Titanium Alloy Casting

01/

High Precision And Complexity: Titanium alloy casting can produce intricate and complex shapes with tight tolerances, essential for aerospace and medical components. This precision ensures optimal performance and fit, reducing the need for additional machining.

02/

Superior Surface Finish: The smooth surface finish achieved through titanium alloy casting minimizes the need for extensive post-processing. In medical applications, this reduces the risk of bacterial adhesion and enhances biocompatibility.

03/

Material Efficiency: Titanium alloy casting produces near-net-shape parts, minimizing material waste. This is particularly important for titanium, which is an expensive material.

04/

Design Flexibility: The process allows for the incorporation of complex internal features, such as cooling channels in turbine blades or porous structures in orthopedic implants, which are difficult to achieve with other manufacturing methods.

05/

Enhanced Mechanical Properties: Titanium alloy casting allows for the control of microstructure through precise cooling rates and heat treatments, resulting in improved mechanical properties such as strength, fatigue resistance, and durability.

06/

Cost-effective For Complex Parts: While the initial cost of molds can be high, titanium alloy casting becomes cost-effective for producing complex, high-precision parts in medium to large quantities.

Application of Titanium Alloy Casting

Aerospace Field: Titanium alloy casting casting have excellent strength and corrosion resistance, and are widely used in aerospace component manufacturing, such as engine components, structural components, accessories, etc.

Chemical Industry: Titanium alloy casting casting have good corrosion resistance to various corrosive media and are used in the manufacturing of reactors, heat exchangers, pump bodies, etc. In the field of chemical equipment and pipelines.

Medical Devices: Titanium alloy casting is widely used in medical devices, such as artificial joints, dental implants, surgical implants, etc. Its biocompatibility and mechanical properties make it an ideal material choice.

Automotive Manufacturing: The high-strength and lightweight properties of titanium alloy casting make it a popular material in the automotive industry, used to manufacture components such as chassis and suspension systems for high-end vehicle models.

Sports Equipment: Sports equipment made of titanium alloy casting is widely used in fields such as navigation, cycling, golf, etc., such as ships, bicycle frames, golf clubs, etc.

Cast Titanium Alloy Casting Methods

Machined graphite mold casting

This method can simplify molding and effectively control metallurgical quality. Thicker and larger size castings can be precisely realized by this method.

Ceramic mold investment casting

A good method for high-precision casting; logos can be clearly cast in this method; and large-sized and complicated-shaped parts can be well cast in this method.

Titanium Alloy Casting Process

Raw Material Processing

Select appropriate titanium alloy raw materials and perform melting and refining to obtain alloy structures and compositions that meet the requirements.

01

Mold Design And Preparation

Design molds according to requirements and select appropriate mold materials. Usually sand, ceramic, or metal molds are used

02

Melting And Pouring

Heat and melt the pre treated titanium alloy material, and then inject the molten titanium alloy into the mold through pouring or pressure casting.

03

Cooling And Solidification

Wait for the titanium alloy to cool in the mold and gradually solidify into the desired shape of the titanium casting.

04

Mold removal and post-treatment

The cooled titanium castings are taken out of the mold and subjected to post-treatment such as deburring, polishing, and cleaning to obtain the final titanium casting product.

Precautions for Use Titanium Alloy Casting

There are a lot of people in the processing of titanium alloy, titanium alloy material properties are not understood, the processing method is not right, and processing tools are not applicable, ultimately leading to the processing of titanium alloy being difficult, inefficient and low quality, titanium alloy is a kind of high strength, corrosion resistance, heat resistance of a material, titanium alloy can be used to heat treatment for shaping and enhance the stability of the organization, so in the machining of titanium alloy parts, it should be a priority to Adopt inserts with positive angle geometry, which can reduce the cutting force and prevent the deformation of the workpiece caused by the heat generated by cutting.

In terms of feeding, attention should be paid to controlling the feeding speed and maintaining constant feeding parameters, the radial draft should be 30% of the radius when iron cutting and high-pressure high-flow cutting fluid should be used to ensure thermal stability of the machining process and to prevent the denaturation of the workpiece surface and damage to the cutting tool due to the excessively high temperature, Machining titanium alloys in their softest state possible because the material becomes more difficult to machine after hardening, heat treatment increases the strength of the material and increases insert wear, use a large tip radius or chamfer cut to put as much of the cutting edge into the cut as possible. This reduces cutting forces and heat at each point and prevents localized breakage.

FAQ

Q: Are you a factory or a trading company?

A: We are a manufacturer with two professional production bases. We can help you with customized material development, process design, mold making, casting production, post machining, inspection, packaging and delivery etc.

Q: Will you sign a confidentiality agreement with us?

A: Yes, customer's privacy is carefully protected at SRIF.

Q: Can you make products without drawing?

A: We can make products strictly following a customer's product drawing, machining drawing and technical requirements. If no drawings are available, we kindly ask you to provide us sample products and we can determine the measurements for your confirmation.

Q: How does your factory do regarding quality control?

A: We pay high attention to quality control. Testing at SRIF includes raw material inspection, process design control, semi-finished product inspection before machining, finished products inspection before packing, and customer onsite witness as required.

Q: Can you cast titanium alloy?

A: As titanium reacts strongly with oxygen, it is difficult to cast it in a conventional casting method. However, recent advancements in dental casting technology involving both machines and mold materials have resulted in improving the quality of titanium castings.

Q: How do you make titanium alloy?

A: Regardless of the final usage titanium must first be removed from its ore and turned into pure titanium. This is done by processing titanium oxide manufactured from either ilmenite or rutile though the Kroll process.

Q: What is the difference between titanium and titanium alloy?

A: The difference between pure titanium and alloys is that an alloy is made up of titanium and other metals. The reason why titanium is mixed with other elements is to provide additional strength, flexibility and malleability.

Q: What is the hot forging of titanium alloy?

A: Forging temperatures usually range between 1450°F (790°C) and 1950°F (1065°C). Lower temperatures up to 1650°F (900°C) are applicable to the unalloyed titanium, while higher temperatures are used with alloyed titanium.

Q: Can you bend titanium alloy?

A: In case of titanium elements, bending is one of the most widely used cold forming processes. It consists in a change of the element axis curvature, thus it is possible to distinguish between curving a straight piece of material or straightening a curved piece of material.

As one of the most professional titanium alloy casting manufacturers and suppliers in China, we're featured by premium investment castings with competitive price. Please rest assured to buy high quality customized titanium alloy casting from our factory. Contact us for quotation.
